Business Logic

There are several approaches to implementation of business logic. Each offers advantages, and they can be combined to deliver a comprehensive solution. Some, such as Performance Equations, PI-ACE and PI Notifications are tightly integrated into the PI architecture where as Aventa System's COSMOS (Collaborative Objects and Services MOdelling System) framework provides an extensive toolkit for ensuring that the client's specific needs are met exactly.

• PI-Performance Equations are defined within the PI Server and perform simple calculations in real time (e.g. convert temperature data from degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit)
• PI-ACE (Advanced Calculation Engine) can be utilised to perform very complex calculations on a scheduled basis. These calculations can also be retrospectively re-run as and when required.
• PI-Notifications allow users to be alerted when certain data conditions arise, thereby giving the client the best possible opportunity to address an impending issue before it becomes critical.
• Aventa System's COSMOS framework provides a comprehensive array of standard plug-in modules which may be quickly, and easily, configured together to provide additional system specific data processing and reporting. If the required functionality is not currently available, the framework provides an excellent toolset for delivering the exact functionality required. COSMOS also supports integration with relational databases, such as SQL Server 2005-2010 and Oracle 11i.
