Non-Executive Director Appointed as Aventa Pushes Ahead with Plans for Growth
March 2010
Expanding IT company Aventa Systems Ltd has strengthened its place in the market with the appointment of a highly-skilled non-executive director to help grow the business further.
Kenny Duncan brings more than 20 years' experience in the sector to Aventa which delivers advanced information technology solutions to international operators and partners in the oil and gas industry.
Based at Migvie House in the centre of the European oil capital Aventa, formed in 2007, has already tripled its office space and aims to increase staff by 150%. The company currently employs six people.
The latest appointment cements its position and reflects managing director Bill Whibley's ambitious growth plans.
He said: "We are delighted to have Kenny on board. His experience in managing the growth and development of companies will be invaluable. I know he is an excellent match for our aspirations."
Kenny, 40, graduated in mathematical sciences from the former Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology in 1990, becoming a software developer with SD-SCICON. He moved into project management when the company was bought over by Electronic Designs Systems Ltd, developing major software systems for maintenance and materials management, hydrocarbon accounting and offshore logistics.
He was a founding director of IT company, Pragma Systems Scotland Ltd, set up in 1994, and became its operations director, playing a significant role in its growth and sale to the Sword Group in 2005.
He has witnessed the huge advances and benefits IT has brought to the energy industry and is enthused by the opportunity to work with Aventa whose expertise in the sector is applicable to a range of industries.
He said: "Ultimately it's very exciting, particularly because of the kind of work Aventa does. We're interfacing directly with offshore equipment and control systems, leading the way to full integration with offshore systems and enabling remote physical control of various aspects.
"The individuals within Aventa have a lot to offer personally and they have a respected track record in the oil and gas market but there are certainly opportunities to grow the business beyond that."
Aventa Systems Limited is an advanced information technology company that specialises in delivering integrated production data systems to international operators and partners in the oil and gas industry.
Formed in response to a growing demand for advanced data reporting and analysis, Aventa provides systems that allow operators to analyse production data more effectively, enabling better business decisions to be made over the life of assets.
Since Pragma Kenny, who was born in Aberdeen and brought up in Kintore, has taken on a number of non-executive directorships in the IT sector. He is also a keen golfer and is currently greens convenor at his local Stonehaven Golf Club.
A father-of-two, he uses his love of the game to instil enthusiasm for the sport into golfers of the future through the Club Golf initiative and is a coach with the scheme that introduces primary schoolchildren to golf, training and developing youngsters with aptitude in basic skills.
